Copenhagen, 2019  - Exhibition and furniture Design

MIZU means „water” in Japanese. The artist uses water as the means to create her unique works. Using self made paddles and brushes she manipulates the water surface and captures the patterns of turbulences, submerging wood in it. The whole process takes place in a custom made basin.

The idea for the exhibition is to show the final artwork as well as the process that led to it. The space is divided into two. The larger part of the room, defined by an abstract surface of marbled wood reflecting in a large mirror and the smaller, acting as a workshop space consisting of the basin, a display of tools, Japanese papers and the prototype pieces that were used to create the artwork in the first part of the room.

Together with Quynh Nguyen, I had a chance to work on the design of the exhibition, manufacturing of it’s various elements and final construction, all under the supervision of Pernille Snedker.
